Resumo:
Em estudos de inundações, tem-se grande dificuldade para estimar a distribuição temporal de precipitação. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi analisar a influência dos padrões temporais da precipitação no mapeamento de inundações. Foi investigado o caso da Bacia do Braço do Baú (48 km²) no município de Ilhota/SC. Quatro hietogramas com formatos diferentes aplicados a dois casos de saturação de solo foram projetados e utilizados na modelagem hidrológica e hidrodinâmica para a criação de mapas de inundação. Os resultados permitem concluir que, para diferentes distribuições temporais de precipitação, existe relevante variação das vazões de pico. A velocidade do escoamento superficial tem grande variação e afeta diretamente o Índice de Perigo da inundação. Consequentemente, confirma-se uma forte influência da distribuição temporal nas características da inundação. 

Abstract:
In flood studies it is very difficult to estimate the time distribution of precipitation. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze the influence of the time distribution of precipitation on hydrographs and on flood areas. The case of Braço do Baú basin (48 km²), in Ilhota, SC, Brazil was then investigated as a case study. Four hyetographs with different patterns but the same quantity of precipitation were projected and used in hydrologic and hydrodynamic modeling with two different soil saturation conditions. The results obtained allow the conclusion that, in accordance with different time-distributions of precipitation, there is a major variation in hydrograph peaks. Large variations in flood flow velocity occur, which directly affect the Flood Hazard Index. Thus, a strong influence of time distribution of the precipitation on flood mapping is confirmed
