The increasing demand for large-scale hydrological models able to describe well the hydrological processes in large river basins is a result of the importance of hydrology and water resources in global environmental challenges. These models are a very important tool to represent the hydrologic phenomena that influence Global Circulation Models and to simulate the effects of climatic changes and land use on water resources.
